For Centuries, theologians and historians debate about when exactly came to this world by Jesus Christ on December 25 or January 7? Who correctly observes Christmas - supporters of the Western or Eastern rite?
Christian portal World of the Bible has published an interesting analytical article on Christmas, the contents of which advise you and our readers.
about Christmas, there's nothing in the Bible to subtract about when Christ was born. So, start from the beginning.
In the Bible actually no exact date, but there are indirect indications of when it happened. To begin with you should compare the Jewish calendar and the calendar. The Jewish new year begins in April, according to our calendar, as in this day, the Jews came out of Egypt and ends in March.
ex. 13.4 "today leave you, in the month of Aviv'
And these months, in parentheses put the modern name
1 - Abib ( Nisan ) - April 2 - Ziv ( NRR ) - may
3 - Sivan - June
4 - Tammuz - July
5 - AV - August
6 - Elul - September
7 - Eytanim ( Tishrei ) - October
8 - Boule ( Cheshvan ) - November
9- Hislev ( Tishri ) - December
10 - Tevet - January
12 - Hadar - March
Now turn on the climatic features of Judaea in the month Hislev ( December ) and again the answer will give the Bible Ezra 10.9,13
9. And gathered together all the men of Judah and the land of Benjamin in Jerusalem in three days. It was in the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month And all the people sat in the square at the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain. 13. However, people are more and now the rainy, and there is no way to stand out on the street. And Yes it is a work of one day or two, because we have many sinned in this matter.
That is, as we see from the Scripture this month there is winter and it's cold and rainy.
And now let us turn to a very important verse in Luke 2;8
"In the same region there were shepherds out in the field, which contained night watch over their flock.”
In winter or beside them in the rainy season flocks of sheep and never left it on the night as the sheep are very gentle animals and so they were kept always in hlevu.I means that it is not because he could be a month Hislev ( December ).
And now try to find all the same in the Bible when Jesus was born. For this let us consider serving in the temple.
The Bible said that in the temple served 24 group of priests from the household of Aaron, and they served on the queue using zherebyovki. And if in the year served 24 groups, month, you get 2 groups. We are interested only in one group called " Avievoy "as Zechariah, father of John the Baptist was from this group and of the us Bible says in Luke 1;5
"In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest of the division of Abijah, name Zachary, and his wife from sort Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.”
Now we will see that John was older than Jesus for 5 months
Read on in Luke 1;24-27,31
"24. And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, 25. thus hath unto me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.
26. In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27. to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
31. and behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and shalt call his name Jesus.”
Of texts to be that of Jesus under John 6 months.
Now let's try to subtract when John was born. Luke 1;8-11,13,23,24
"8. Once when it by way of the succession served before as the God, 9. on a lot as ordinarily was at priests, has got to it enter temple of the Lord to burn incense,
10. and all set of people prayed outside of during time of incense -
11. and there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
13. The angel said to him: fear not, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and shalt call his name John.
23. And when it ended in the days of his service, he returned home.
24. And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying:”
From these verses we learn that after his return after the service of the temple, the wife of Zacharias, Elisabeth conceived a son.
to learn when John was born, we need to know when the service Zacharias and this will help us again the great book of the Bible.
As already wrote above, Zacharias was a priest of the group Avievoy. The queue for the service of the temple is written in 1 Chronicles Chapter 24.
"7. And released his first lots Iegoiarivu, the second to Jedaiah, 8. the third Harimu, fourth Seorimu,
9. the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
10. the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
11. ninth Ieshuyu tenth of Shechaniah”
As we can see turn zherebyovki group Avievoy, the winning number 8. We also know that the group was 24, so in that month served as the 2 groups.
And now divide the group according to the Jewish calendar.
1 - Abib ( Nisan ) - April = group Iegoiarivu, the second to Jedaiah 2 - Ziv ( NRR ) - may = the third Harimu, fourth Seorimu,
3 - Sivan - June = the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
4 - Tammuz - July = the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
5 - AV - August = ninth Ieshuyu tenth of Shechaniah,
6 - Elul - September = eleventh Eliashivu, twelfth Iakimu,
7 - Eytanim ( Tishrei ) - October = thirteenth Hushayu, the fourteenth Ieshevavu,
8 - Boule ( Cheshvan ) - November = fifteenth Vilge, sixteenth Imeru,
9 - Hislev ( Tishri ) - December = seventeenth Heziru, eighteenth Gapitsetsu,
10 - Tevet - January = nineteenth Petahii twentieth Ezekiel,
11'shvat February = twenty-first Iahinu, the twenty-second Gamulu,
12 - Hadar - March = twenty-third Delaii, twenty-fourth Maazii.
As we see a group of Avievoy served Tamuze ( July ) and immediately after returning Zechariah home his wife conceived, and it falls on the beginning of AV ( August ). And now we know when pregnant Elizabeth, now let's add the 9 months of this and get the end Aviv ( April ) beginning Ziv ( May ).
And now the main question, when Jesus was born around. As we know Jesus under John about 5 months. We remember from the words of Luke that the angel appeared to Mary, that, when Elisabeth was 5 months pregnant, and from here we see that Jesus was born at the end of September, beginning of October.
, And Thank God that there is no date of death, as our Savior's alive forevermore.
