UN resumed on 12 July ground delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrian Northern province of raqqa. As reported by the world food programme of the UN, and the first shipments of food began to get thousands of internally displaced persons in the city of Mansoura (West of the city of raqqa) and the surrounding areas. Earlier in June, the Assad regime allowed the UN to send humanitarian aid on the road leading from Aleppo to the city of Qamishli, in the North-East of the country. In these areas the province has accumulated the people who had fled hostilities in the city of raqqa and its environs, where the rebels - with the support of the coalition headed by the USA - are trying to oust the militants grouping "Islamic state" ("IG", banned in Russia). According to the UN, from April of this year, their house there has left more than 190 thousand people, about 50 thousand remain in the besieged city. Many roads in the province were blocked in 2014, when the administrative center of raqqa seized power "IG", declaring it the capital of his Caliphate in Syria.
