Festival "White lilac" brought Rachmaninoff out of depression

One of the most exciting concerts of the festival — the Second Symphony of Rachmaninov. Maestro Alexander Sladkovsky (artistic Director of the state orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan) increased the orchestra is almost twice of the composition specified Rachmaninoff: more than a hundred musicians played on stage. So, in the performance of the RT state orchestra the whole Symphony is listened in one breath — a sort of wide geography of Rachmaninoff's creativity.

But we go further. Another summer piece by Rachmaninoff, but already the late period, was made at this concert – "Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini" for piano and orchestra.

The piano part was performed by pianist Denis Matsuev. Alexander Sladkovsky in an interview, said of the pianist: "It is an absolute Unicum, which holds any style.
