In the late 1880s cigarette manufacturers began to put into paper packaging hard card, to make them more durable and comfortable. A little later on these cards began printing pictures, photos of famous people and pretty girls, grouped by series. This lasted until 1940, and now these cards are sold for big money: one of the most expensive was sold in 2007 for $ 2.8 million.
But we are not interested in the age of the pictures and the content of some of them. In 1910, Gallaher Ltd of Belfast and London, as well as a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Co in Ogden published a series of How-To from cool lifehacks: from the crossing of a raging torrent of water to save from a rabid dog. Some of them may be still relevant.
