Samsung is still the market leader in smartphones, but Huawei was closer than ever

Experts Strategy Analytics has summed up the results of 2019 in the global smartphone market.

According to their calculations, the total for the year in the world has sold 1.41 billion smartphones, up from only 1% lower than a year earlier. The market leader remains Samsung, which took 20.9% and implemented 295,1 million smartphones. And this is 4 million more than in 2018.

However, Huawei despite US pressure and its consequences, were able to increase sales by almost 20% to 240,5 million units, and occupy 17% of the market. Thus, the current year could be a turning point for both players.

rounded out the top three leaders of Apple, realize 197,4 million smartphones and took 14% of the market. For companies this decline by almost 10 million in the last quarter of 2019 Apple was the market leader, ahead of Samsung on 2 million smartphones.

the five leaders also joined Xiaomi (of 124.8 million, 8.8% of market) and Oppo (of 115.1 million, an 8.1% market share).
